Rockwell Charter High School Family School Organization (FSO)

Dear Parents, Students and Teachers,

Welcome to the Rockwell Family School Organization (FSO), which most charter schools use. As a student, teacher or parent, you are already a member! Our organization requires no financial dues, but we do request a donation of time from all members. In volunteering with our organization, we work together to help our school become better.

The FSO mission statement:

"To create a positive and structured environment in which students and their families are actively involved with the Rockwell community in supporting the school's mission of preparing students for success in their post-secondary education."

This year our focus will be on service. Our school director, Mr. Sullenberger, has many projects planned within the school and throughout the community. We will be sharing more of these opportunities and the dates soon.

For now, our focus at the beginning of the year will be on organizing volunteers into committees. Some of our committees include; hall monitors, library aids, teachers aids, school activity volunteers and Outpost (school store) volunteers. We also have a general volunteer list. We will be sending out emails with information on projects or areas that are in need of parent volunteers.

Volunteering is also helpful in giving you the opportunity to get to know other Rockwell families, in addition to the Rockwell staff. As you feel more informed about your school and the staff, you can help encourage new ideas or solve problems. You may choose to attend a parent training or School Board meeting. You may also want to email your thoughts or call one of our FSO board members. We will be happy to help you find the solution or contact to discuss your thoughts.

Rockwell is a small community. This is a great environment for us to all help create more prepared service-oriented leaders for tomorrow.

We, as members of the FSO, look forward to meeting and getting to know each one of you. We hold monthly meetings that are open to everyone. We also encourage a member from the teaching staff to attend. At these meetings we discuss events and projects for the school. We try to keep the meetings to an hour in duration. The schedule for our meetings will be posted on the school website. Our meetings will generally be held each month. We will also be emailing notes from the meetings to the parents on the general volunteer list.

We are excited about this year and all the great families that are attending Rockwell this year. We have a great staff at the school as well. Under the direction of Mr. Sullenberger, Rockwell is on the path to a wonderful, productive year.
