Does Rockwell have licensed teachers?

Yes. Rockwell Charter High School is the proud home of state, regional, and national award-winning curricular and extra-curricular programs and teachers. Rockwell offers classes taught by highly-qualified teachers (according to NCLB qualifications), teachers with real-world working experience, as well as teachers who have taught on the college level. Rockwell's programs also include state and national award-winning teachers, students and programs. Students and teachers are held accountable with a high standard toward academic excellence. Our success can be attributed to our philosophy that all students can rise to achieve the high standards and expectations established for them, enabling students to be prepared for college and whatever their future will hold.

Does your school have sports?

Yes. We are part of the UHSSA, and have sports teams participating at the 2A level, JV during our probationary year (2009-2010) and then at the varsity level thereafter. Students may participate in varsity sports that are not offered at Rockwell Charter High School at Westlake, while still attending school at RCHS full-time.

Can my student qualify for scholarships by attending Rockwell?

yes; we have current Rockwell students and graduates who have received scholarships to state colleges and universities through the various scholarship programs the state offers.

What programs does Rockwell have that will help my student be prepared for college-level academics?

Rockwell's curriculum includes the AP program as laid out by the College Board. ALL Students are engaged in college preparation instructional methods in their various Core courses.

How can I enroll my student at Rockwell if they have courses at Westlake that are not offered at Rockwell? Why should I?

Rockwell High School and Westlake High School, in accordance with state laws and regulations, have agreements where students who would like to take a class at the other school need only be enrolled for 3/4 of the school day at their "Home" school. We have students who take 1-2 classes at Westlake and take the rest of their coursework at Rockwell, and vice versa. Most of the classes at Rockwell have smaller numbers of students, thereby enabling the teachers to give more personalized and helpful attention to their students.

How do the academics compare to Westlake?

Rockwell offers classes taught by highly-qualified teachers (according to NCLB qualifications), teachers with real-world working experience, as well as teachers who have taught on the college level. Rockwell's programs also include state and national award-winning teachers, students, and programs. Students and teachers are held accountable with ahigh standard toward academic excellence. Rockwell students who have taken the ACT are currently being recruited by some of the finest, most prestigious universities in the nation.

I heard a rumor that Rockwell is planning on closing. Is this true?

No, Rockwell has no plans to close.

How much is tuition for Rockwell?

Rockwell, like all charter schools in Utah, is a free public school. Consequently, there is no tuition to attend Rockwell. Rockwell is committed to fairness and equity in attracting students for enrollment. The school does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, religion, and/or regarding eligibility of special services (i.e. disabilities, students with I.E.P,'s, special educational needs, etc). Any student living within the State of Utah may apply.

Does my child have to wear a uniform in order to attend Rockwell?

No. Rockwell students do not wear uniforms.

Do I have to volunteer at the school in order for my child to attend Rockwell?

No. Rockwell requests that all parents involve themselves with their children’s education. As such Rockwell has a policy that encourages parents to volunteer at the school. However, parents are not required to volunteer in order for their children to attend Rockwell.

What grades can attend Rockwell?

Rockwell includes students in grades 7 through 12.

Are Rockwell’s credits equal to those of other high schools in Utah?

Yes. Rockwell’s credits have the same value as all other high schools in Utah. For example, one credit from Rockwell in 10th Grade English is equal to one credit in 10th Grade English from Westlake High School or Lehi High School.

Do you offer busing for students?

Rockwell has purchased a bus and is currently in the process of completing all necessary arrangements to have a busing option available for families beginning with the 2010-2011 school year.

Do you offer a school lunch program?

Yes. Rockwell offers a hot, school lunch daily through Lunchboxers.com. Parents and students may order and pay for lunch from the school’s online menu.
