Dawn Longman

Dawn was born in Derbyshire, England, and graduated from school at age 16. During her lifetime she has visited Romania, France, Germany and Canada. She had earned a gymnastics scholarship from the University of Utah, so she left England for the United States, attended school in the Salt Lake Valley, and never looked back.

She was the owner/director of a Preschool/Daycare for 18 years while rearing 5 sons, the youngest of whom began 7th grade at RCHS in August, 2009. Ms. Longman completed her Bachelor degree in Behavioral Science with an emphasis in Psychology in 2006, and is halfway through earning her Master's degree in Special Education.

When she has a few spare minutes, Dawn likes to read, but most of her time away from her classroom at RCHS is spent at ballparks: her car sometimes seems like her home and the parks like very big yards. With five sons on five different teams, there was a point that she attended 10 different games each Saturday: it's obvious she truly adores her children.

The 2009-2010 school year is Ms. Longman's second year at RCHS, and she is thrilled with the expansion of her teaching space and addition of aides. She can be found in the Junior High hall, and is always happy to give a few minutes to anyoneóstaff or student that wants to talk. As she continues to serve her students, it is obvious that Dawn's passion is Special Education.
