Paula Kavmark

This year I am teaching Literature and Film, Creative Writing, and Health. For part of the day I get to be the Librarian. It is also my great privilege to work with our award winning Drama Department! I have had the time of my life working and playing with the drama students of Rockwell High this school year. The highlights for me, are the trip to the Shakespearian Festival in Cedar City and taking a trip to Las Vegas with our students, to see productions of KA and Phantom of the Opera. I look forward to each and every day I get to spend with my students.

I grew up in the little city of Escondido, just north of San Diego, California. I am the oldest of seven, in a family where playing sports was a big priority. I played softball for city league as a pitcher and first baseman. As an adult I have coached softball and basketball. After high school I began a degree at Brigham Young University in Secondary Education. I wanted to be to a PE teacher but then decided that I loved English Literature even more. I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree from Utah Valley University and I will complete my Master's Degree in Secondary Education with an English emphasis, in the Spring of 2010. I love school and my plan is to continue to go forever!

I have four kids from age 19 to 30. I also have the privilege of being a grandma to four kids. They are my most fun and interesting hobby. I love to travel, so it is very convenient that my husband works for United Airlines. A few times a year I get to go to fun places around the world. Last year I went to Australia three times! Sydney is my favorite city so far! Of course, reading is my favorite past-time. I usually read three or more books at a time, depending on my mood. Watching movies made from books is also pretty great but reading a book at the beach is even better.

I love our school! The facility is new and beautiful and I enjoy having access to a lab full of new Apple Computers. We have a faculty that works well together and I really enjoy Faculty Meetings. We get to share ideas and strategies for making our school all about the kids. My thanks to Mr. Beck and Mr. Shenk for being our fearless leaders. Go Rockwell Charter High School!
