Brian Hull

Mr. Hull was born in California and graduated from Sacramento State University, from which he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Science. He has taught Pre-school (ages 3-4 1/2 years, and says, "That was a job I absolutely loved!), Junior High and High School, where he has taught both math and science classes. Most of his teaching experience comes from years of teaching in Residential Treatment Centers in Utah, where he provided an education for troubled youth, and then at Genesis Youth Center in Draper, Utah, where he taught youth in custody. Brian thoroughly enjoyed both areas of teaching, and learned a lot about his students. "Most importantly," he shared, "I learned that each student was an individual, with individual needs. The greatest thing I learned from teaching youth in custody was to value each student as a child with potential."

Besides being a teacher, Brian is a husband and father, which he says has been the greatest adventure of his life! He and his wife have been married for 11 years, and have two children, ages 6 and 7 years. He and his wife moved to Utah from California around 2002 so their children could be raised with as much family involvement as possible. Their philosophy is that the family is the strongest foundation children can have, and so have worked to ensure that each family member knows that their family is the most important thing in life.

Mr. Hull came to Rockwell very eager to teach science, a subject he loves not only as a teacher, but as a continual student, and learns from his students while they learn from him. He says his main goal is to create a positive learning environment where students can learn to appreciate the natural world, and question those things they don't understand. Brian states, "I hope that students will leave my class with a curiosity about the things around them, and be able to appreciate opposing views." In his second year teaching at RCHS, Mr. Hull looks forward to further enriching his classroom and developing an outstanding Science program at Rockwell.
