Rockwell Charter High School Board
What is the purpose of a school board?
- Hire the school's Director and evaluate performance of the same
- Promote the mission and philosophy of Rockwell Charter High School
- Oversee school fundraising
- Assure academic and financial responsibility and accountability
- Consider and approve new or amended policies or procedures
- Appoint parents and teachers as School Community Council members for the purposes of developing the School LAND Trust plan annually
- Address any other school issues
- Oversee the Family School Organization (FSO)
The following are the duties of the various Board members:
President duties are as follows:
Act as Board chair; convene and preside over Board meetings; Ensure Board complies with open meeting laws
Vice-President duties are as follows:
Facilitate meetings in the absence of the Council Chair; Serve as President if the position is vacated mid-term until special election is held; Serve as parliamentarian to ensure agendas stay on track and that crucial issues do not fall through the cracks
Treasurer duties are as follows:
Assist in preparation of the budget; Determine fundraising and grant writing needs
Secretary duties are as follows:
Oversee taking Board minutes; Issue meeting reminders/minutes to all Board members
Remaining council member's duties are as follows:
Attend Board meetings as scheduled; Complete assignments as given by the Board
