AT-WILL EMPLOYEES
Rockwell Charter High School will consider all staff “at-will” employees. The Director will be responsible for hiring teachers and other school staff. The director will evaluate all teaching staff on a regular basis. The Board of Trustees will be responsible for evaluating the performance of the Director on an annual basis. The Director and the Board of Trustees will review all contracts periodically.
The Director must perform background checks and/or drug testing on prospective or current employees. Volunteers, who in any form come in unsupervised contact with the student body, will also be required to submit to a background check.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS & QUALIFICATIONS
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR Seeking an Assistant Director for a dynamic, college-prep high school opening its do in August 2008. This position will be an integral and crucial part, in conjunction with the Board of Trustees and the Director, in getting the high school up and started. The Director and the Board of Trustees desire the following traits in a candidate: -- Dedicated life-long learner The selection and supervision of the Assistant Director will be the responsibility of the Director and the Board of Trustees. The Assistant Director will be responsible in assisting the Director in the day-to-day management of the school and the enforcement of executive policies. The Assistant Director will be responsible for assisting the supervision of teachers and other staff, ensuring school curriculum meets requirements by the State of Utah, implementing Board decisions, and promoting the school’s mission, philosophy and goals. The Assistant Director will assist in hiring necessary administrative staff, faculty, and support staff as needed within the prudent, legal, ethical, and appropriate administrative exercise of his/her position. This position and all administrative staff, faculty, and support staff directly to the Director. TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS Rockwell Charter High School will employ licensed, certified teachers as required by the State of Utah or be qualified to teach under USOE’s alternative certification of authorization program. The school’s goal is to hire teachers who meet highly qualified standards under NCLB or who are working to meet those standards. OFFICE STAFF AND FACILITY POSITIONS Descriptions and qualifications will be posted at a later date.BUSINESS MANAGER/FINANCIAL CONSULTANT
The selection and supervision of the Business Manager will be the responsibility of the Director. The Business Manager will be responsible for maintaining all accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll according to the fiscal procedures established by the Board and based upon accepted accounting practices. The Board must establish purchasing and other financial policies based upon State law. RCHS will employ both a Business Manager and a Financial Consultant to ensure State and Federal operational and reporting requirements are met.
Minimum Requirements for either one or both positions would require a minimum of a B.S. in accounting, be a licensed CPA, and have several years experience in accounting and audit procedures.
The Business Manager must have a minimum of 3 years experience in the following:
Accounting, QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, Word, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reporting and audit procedures. He/she must also have knowledge of procurement and purchasing procedures, office procedures, and human resource policies and procedures.
The Financial Consultant will be a contracted employee and must have a minimum of a B.S. in Accounting and a minimum of 5 years experience in the accounting industry preferably with a public school or a non-profit organization. He/she must be able to oversee quarterly and annual taxes, reconciliation of bank accounts on a monthly basis, and oversee audits and loan/bond issues. The financial consultant will also assist and advise the business manager and School Council on financial related issues.
Teachers will be expected to support the mission, philosophy, and goals of Rockwell Charter High School and demonstrate a commitment to the chosen educational programs.
All RCHS staff will be expected to exhibit a high standard of professionalism when dealing with students, parent, and co-workers, demonstrate effective communication skills, and complete duties with minimal supervision.
Qualifications include:
• Be licensed or certified by the State of Utah.
• Complete his/her job duties with minimal supervision.
• Experience with direct teaching methods as well as other innovative and creative teaching methods.
• Agree to teach RCHS’s official curriculum as approved by the Board of Trustees, while meeting curriculum required by the State of Utah.
• Demonstrate commitment to RCHS’s mission, philosophy, and goals.
Instructional Assistants
Instructional Assistants will report directly to the teacher and the Director.
Qualifications include:
• Have a Bachelor's Degree
• Complete job duties with minimal supervision
• Preferable experience in a high school setting as an employee or volunteer
• Provide instruction and direction to the students in accordance with the approved curriculum and provide assistance to the supervising teacher while meeting the school's mission, philosophy and goals
• Complete drug testing and criminal background testing
• Report directly to their supervising teacher
• Supervise and assist volunteers assigned to the class
Substitute Teachers
Substitute Teachers will report directly to the Director.
Qualifications include:
• Minimum of a Bachelors degree preferred
• Two year demonstrated experience in the subject area they are teaching
• Preferable experience in a high school setting as an employee or volunteer
• Demonstrate classroom management skills
